The workshop, Latin America and the Latina/o Community in Central Illinois: Issues, Trends, and Information Resources, is designed for librarians and K12 educators who wish to assist others seeking information on contemporary issues in Latin America; the demography, concerns, and culture of the local Latina/o community; information resources on Latin America and Latinas/os. Venue is Springer Cultural Center, 301 N. Randolph, Champaign. K12 educators may earn CPDUs. You may pre-register before May 1 at the cost of $20, which includes a box lunch. The workshop begins with two plenary sessions, Contemporary Issues in Latin America; and Latinas/os in Central Illinois: Demography and Major Concerns. These sessions are followed by three Break-Out Sessions: 1. Web Resources, Bibliographies, Course Ware, Films, and a Few Accessible Books on Latin America; 2. Local Resources for and on Latinas/os: Legal, Health, and Education Concerns; 3. Viva la Comunidad: Family, Food, Fiesta, and Religion in Latina/o Culture.
