The SOUTH ATLANTIC MODERN LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION (SAMLA) invites proposals for individual papers to be presented at the German I (pre-1750) session of its 2004 Convention, which will take place November 12-14, 2004 in Roanoke, Virginia.
Scholars from all disciplines in the humanities are encouraged to submit proposals which deal with any aspect of pre-modern public and private spheres.
Potential topics might include:
Early Periodicals and Readership
Representations of Gender, Class, Minorities, Power, Identity
Jürgen Habermas and Pre-Modern Discourse
Constructions of Memory
Aspects of the Social
Depictions of Home Life
Concepts of Germanness and Heimat
