Call for Papers: The Catoctin Center for Regional Studies, a program of
Frederick Community College and the National Park Service is
pleased to announce its 3rd regional history conference, "Catoctin Crossroads: Folk Traditions and History in Mid-Maryland," to be held at Frederick Community College, Frederick, Maryland, October 1-2, 2004. This Conference is an opportunity to explore the history and
culture of Mid-Maryland and the adjacent areas of Pennsylvania, West
Virginia, and Virginia.
Scholars, preservation specialists, students, and others interested in
presenting papers or participating in workshops, panel discussions,
or other types of sessions are encouraged to submit a one-page
proposal (title, outline/brief description, and equipment/software
needs), biographical sketch, and contact information by March 31,
2004. Paper and session ideas are encouraged for all time periods
and subjects. A special track will focus on folk life and folk
traditions in the region, and proposals are welcome for papers, workshops, demonstrations, and performances related to this theme.
Selected papers from the conference may be published by the Press
at the Maryland Historical Society.
