Call for Authors
ABC-CLIO, a publisher specializing in historical reference works, is currently commissioning a series of reference books entitled The Multicultural West. Intended for use at both the university and advanced secondary school levels, this series covers the both the experiences of ethnic groups in westward migration and settlement and the ways Native American peoples experienced their own migration and the invasion of non-Indians.
Each volume will include chapters on origins, migrations, communities, historical development, major issues, and assessment. Among the volumes that are, as yet, unassigned, are the following:
- Asian Americans in the West
- Northern European Immigrants in the West
- Southern European Immigrants in the West
- Women in the West
- Jews in the West
- American Indians in the Early West (early migrations-17c)
- American Indians in the 19th and 20th Century West
Two volumes, African Americans in the American West and Hispanics in the American West are already underway. We are currently searching for the best authors to give this set the high quality, broad coverage, and depth of interpretation necessary to produce a useful and groundbreaking reference series. If you are interested in authoring a volume, please contact either the series editor, Scott Zeman or the acquisitions editor, Steven Danver.
