Australia's Women's History Month (WHM) 2004 will be officially launched on March 8 (International Womens's Day) in Canberra, with a celebration of women publicans. During the month there will be activities around Australia, as well as web-based discussion groups located at www.womenaustralia.info/whm Over 10,000 free postcards, featuring Australian women, will be distributed nationally through 600 venues as part of a wide campaign to raise the profile of women's history in Australia. Also as part of this campaign, posters advertising WHM and concouraging local events have been sent to 2,000 libraries, local government, local historical societies and other organisations.
WHM is project of the National Foundation for Australian Women and, in 2004, is supported through the Women's Development Programme of the Commonwealth Office of the Status of Women
