Call for contributions
You are invited to submit a proposal for a book project entitled “Travels and Travelogues in the Middle Ages”. All geographical areas will be considered. As this book will be interdisciplinary in nature, contributors from all fields (literature, history, art history, ethnology, etc.) are welcome. The topics which can be addressed are (but suggestions addressing additional areas of research will be considered) :
- Composition/structure of medieval travelogues (study of one text or comparision of two or more)
- Rewriting/translation/adaptation of travelogues
- Iconographical representation (relationships between text/picture)
- Discovery of the other/discovery of the elsewhere (landscape, food, customs, religious practices, the marvels)
- Travels in literary texts
The language of these essays will be English. If you are interested in this project, please send your proposal (title, abstract of no more than 150 words, and a brief résumé), including the number of the section topic it will address to Dr. Jean-François Kosta-Théfaine at the email address below.
