The release last year of a DVD edition of Alain Resnais's 1959 classic, _Hiroshima, mon amour_, reminds us that the impact of war can be felt at a far remove from its battlefields and across cultural divides, however wide. In this light, I will be happy to receive proposals for papers that discuss the consequences and legacies of war as represented through film and television, for presentation at the "War in Film, Television, and History" conference at the Dolce International Conference Center in Dallas, Texas, November 11-14, 2004. Sponsored by the Film & History League and the Literature/Film Association, full conference details are available at our website. There are no geographical or chronological restrictions, save that, for papers in this area, the lasting impact of war--historical, material, social, psychological--should be addressed. In addition to conflicts between or among major powers, insurrectionary and civil warfare can also be appropriate for consideration. While proposals for individual papers are welcome, panel proposals (three/four papers) are especially encouraged. Both electronic and hard copy submissions are acceptable. Please send proposals, with a one/two paragraph abstract and a brief c.v. for each participant.
