Institute for Urban Learning and Action helps colleges, universities and activists build, broaden, and sustain urban engagement. Designed for colleges and universities with come urban engagement experience, the Institute offers a nationally-recognized faculty for thematic sessions, including the working with health professions, organizing community knowledge, creating school partnerships, and creating programs at liberal arts colleges. Sessions will also cover HUD partnerships, internships and other forms of community organizing. Participants can also join special sessions devoted to evaluation, fundraising, dissemination, and strategies to maintain institutional support. The Institute invites 10-15 teams of 2-4 participants drawn from college administrators, faculty, community members, and students. Teams will witness new possibilities for engaging the urban, develop existing ideas, and formulate action plans for their own campuses and communities.
