The Department of History at the University of Alabama, in conjunction with the Bankhead Lecture Series, announces the Third Annual Race and Place Conference: The Struggle for Civil Rights in America, taking place at the University of Alabama on March 11-13, 2004. The conference is designed to promote cutting-edge scholarship, especially by scholars who are early in their careers, on the study of race broadly defined.
