Highly regarded publisher of Jewish books seeks one or more people to write chapters for a book on Israel aimed mostly at teachers in Jewish after-school programs (preschool through high school).
Candidates should be knowledgeable in the history, culture, society, and politics of modern Israel, including that of Israeli Arabs, Palestinians, and Israel’s Arab neighbors; able to meet deadlines and write for a nonscholarly audience; be familiar with new trends in teaching about Israel and in making Israel relevant to Americans, and with other teaching-Israel curricula; and able to approach the subject as objectively.
Familiarity with teaching methodologies (e.g., “learning by design”) would be helpful, and experience writing activities is desirable but not essential. An advanced degree is less essential than being able to fulfill most or all of the above requirements.
Chapters will need to be submitted between April and September 2004. Payment will be on a work-for-hire basis.
Interested individuals should email a cv and short writing sample(s) to Henry Rasof, rotide@msn.com.
