The 2004 Mid-Atlantic Region Association for Asian Studies will be held at The University of Pennsylvania on October 22-24, 2004. The conference theme will be "Asia: Transformation, Continuities." The Association invites the submission of panel or paper proposals related to the conference theme by scholars of Asia, although submissions related to Asia and the study of Asia not on the theme are also encouraged. To propose a panel or an individual paper visit the MAR/AAS website to download CFP application or submit an application and abstract by email by April 16, 2004 to the Program Chair, Prof. Satoshi Hashimoto at shashimoto@lu.lincoln.edu. All proposals should include a one-page abstract and the following information: name of presenter(s) and chair (if applicable) and discussent (if applicable), institutional affiliations, contact information for all panel participants (mailing address, telephone number and email address), AV needs, and 2004 MAR/AAS membership status.
In order to submit a proposal for the 2004 meeting, individual presenters and panelists must a 2004 member or submit a membership application with the proposal. Annual MAR/AAS membership is $10.00. June 15 is the deadline for conference pre-registration for presenters ($45 for members, $30 for member students.) If you pay the pre-registration fee this time, your membership fee for 2005 will be complimentary. Pre-registration by this date is necessary if you wish your name to appear in the program.
