New Women's University to Open in the Arabian Gulf

Call for Information

A new private university for women committed to providing world-class education is being established in Bahrain. The mobilization management team of the Royal University for Women is currently preparing for the official opening of our purpose-built campus in 2005. We will be affiliated with McGill University in Canada for our Colleges of Business Management and Education, and with Middlesex University in the UK for our College of Design & Informatics.

Our mission is to empower women and to draw on the best traditions of women's colleges in both East and West in order to build confidence, encourage initiative and develop leadership potential. We will encourage participation in a full range of student activities and give high priority to student support & guidance services so that our graduates are well-prepared for their personal and professional roles.

All our full-time students will be taking core programmes in Women's Skills & Development and we are keen to promote positive images of women as role models, particularly women achievers from Arabic-speaking and Islamic backgrounds. We are also eager to compile data on 'women achievers' from these categories who graduated from women-only colleges/universities. If you have any suggestions on individual women from these categories that we could include in our courses and promotional materials, please contact me as soon as possible.

For those who are interested in joining us in this exciting new venture, we will be recruiting high-calibre academic and support staff internationally over the next year. All vacancies will be posted on our website which will be launched soon - I'll post details as soon as it's live.
