We are currently looking for submissions on a broad variety of topics - e.g. architecture, natural sciences, economics, gender studies, literature, theology, social sciences, media studies - for the following two Lebanese university based journals.
All potentially interested colleagues in Lebanon as well as all foreign academics from both Western and Tricont university scholars and independent researchers who might consider submitting their articles on the MENA region to a refereed journal in the Middle East will be considered.
AL-RAIDA - LAU (non-refereed)
Al-Raida (The Pioneer) is the journal of the Institute of Women's Studies in the Arab World at Lebanese American University. IWSAW publishes Al-Raida as a quarterly, non-refereed, semi-academic magazine consisting of a file on a specific topic, as well as interviews, book and film reviews, conference reports, announcements, etc. A total of 102 volumes have been published to date. As of 2004, IWSAW will also be publishing an annual scholarly journal, whereby all submissions will be sent out for peer review.
Al-Raida is currently preparing an issue with a special file on Arab Women and War. It has sent out a call for submissions for the next issue, submission deadline April 15, on Arab Masculinity. The last issue had file on Non-Arab Women in the Arab World. Check out the website www.lau.edu.lb.
PALMA JOURNAL - NDU (fully refereed)
Palma Journal is the Interdisciplinary Research Journal of Notre Dame de Louaize University. It is a biannual publication of which a total of 9 volumes have been published to date. As of the last volume (No. 9), Palma Journal has become a fully refereed academic publication.
Palma Journal's goal is to publish articles on all topics of academic interest written by Lebanese scholars as well as articles on the Middle East and North Africa by authors from other parts of the world. Our goal is to improve academic discourse and exchange between the MENA region and the rest of the international academic community. See www.ndu.edu.lb
Please be aware that, for reasons of domestic security, both journals are currently not permitted by Lebanese law to consider articles from anyone openly associated with the State of Israel.
