The purpose of this Colloquium is to link, from a critical point of view that articulates theory and practice, several views on “image” from different disciplines, relating their production, distribution and consumption to socioeconomic and cultural processes in the context of Latin America. Both still and moving images are considered here as social products; in other words, they are produced by women and men immersed in social relations. Therefore, we propose a critical reflection that looks into that diversity of the social, taking into consideration that photography and cinema are carriers of the social itself. The transdisciplinarian debate during this event will provide a reflection on image in the context of social research, linking technologies, society and human resources training.
The Colloquium will feature roundtables, film screenings, and photography exhibitions. The latter will be carried out with the collaboration of the Goethe Institute of Buenos Aires. All the activities will be open and free.
