The Feinstein Center is planning a conference Jews and American Business to be held at Temple University in Philadelphia on October 19 and 20, 2004. The conference has the following goals: to begin to document the history of the relationship of Jews and business; especially as they intersected in American history and in Israeli society; to begin to illuminate the impact of Jews and their culture on the development and growth of American business; and to explore recent changes taking place in the views of Jewish intellectuals and broader groups on the relationship of Jews in business and capitalism in society.
We are looking for papers on Jews in business particularly on women in business. Please send an abstract or summary of the paper you want to present, no longer than five typewritten double spaced pages please, along with your c.v. to: Murray Friedman at the address below. Graduate students and junior faculty are particularly encouraged to apply.
All presenters will receive honoraria and all travel expenses reimbursed. We are hopeful that the essays presented at the conference will be published in a book on Jews on American Business. Deadline for submission is January 31st, 2004.
