Dunford House, West Sussex, England
16-18 July 2004
To mark the bicentenary of the birth of British statesman Richard Cobden (1804-65), The Letters of Richard Cobden Project (funded by the AHRB) is organising an international conference at Cobdenís home, Dunford House, Sussex (now a YMCA conference centre). All aspects of Cobdenís career, thought and legacy, will be under discussion: from his advocacy of free trade, peace, education and land reform to his connections with and influence on liberals and reformers across Europe and the United States.
The inclusive conference fee will be in the region of £125. Bursaries, kindly funded by the YMCA, are available for postgraduates and the unwaged.
