The African-New World Studies Program in at Florida International University will be hosting "The Oliver C. Cox Symposium: Life, Work, and Impact" at Florida International University-Biscayne Bay Campus in Miami, Florida on February 27, 2004.
Papers addressing all aspects of Oliver's Cox's life and scholarship are requested including, but not limited to, the Caribbean influence, the origins and dynamics of capitalism, global economy/world-systems, and "race, class, and caste". Contributions by graduate students are particularly sought. We are planning to produce a volume of critical essays on Cox from the symposium. A finished paper is also required, preferably in Microsoft Word (20-25 pages). Please send titles and abstracts by e-mail to Perry L. Kyles-Symposium Coordinator at plkyle@yahoo.com by January 30, 2004.
