This symposium at the University of Mississippi (February 13-15, 2004) is dedicated to resituating Southern Studies in new geographical, theoretical, pedagogical, and institutional contexts. Keynote speakers are Karla Holloway, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Duke University, and Marshall Eakin, Professor of History at Vanderbilt University. Roundtable topics include "Theoretical Changes/Directional Shifts in Southern Studies," "Rethinking Southern Communities," "Other Souths," and "Southern Studies in the Institution."
