The Film Studies Association of Canada
Graduate Student Conference at UBC, February 26-28th 2004
In February 2004, the annual Graduate Student conference of the Film Studies Association of Canada will be hosted by the Film Studies Program at UBC.
We welcome all graduate students to submit for consideration 250-500 word proposals for presenting a 20 minute paper. As the intent of the conference is to allow graduate students to share their film-related research interests with their peers in a supportive atmosphere, there is no specific theme for this gathering. Graduate student Proposals from Graduate students in Departments and Programs in Asian Studies, Canadian Studies, Communications, Comparative Literature, English, European Studies, Film Studies, Fine Arts, French, German, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, Italian, and Women’s Studies are particularly welcome. There will be at least one faculty keynote speaker and a special screening.
Please send your proposals by January 5th 2004 to both Professors Lisa Coulthard and Brian McIlroy via email.
Attendance at the conference is free; however, to present a paper, students need to be members of the Film Studies Association of Canada (currently $30) Information about membership and the conference, including accommodation, will appear soon on the UBC film website.
This conference has been supported financially by the Canadian Studies Program and the International Canadian Study Centre, the Comparative Literature Program, the Department of Theatre, Film & Creative Writing, Green College, the Office of the Dean, The Faculty of Arts, and the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, UBC.
