Mary Ann Irwin and Diane M. T. North seek a third panelist and chair/commentator for the upcoming Western Association of Women Historians conference (University of California, Santa Barbara May 21-23, 2004). North's paper will discuss women in the California Food Administration during World War I. Irwin will discuss a 'model housekeeping flat' operated by a San Francisco settlement house 1916-1918. Although Irwin and North seem to be obsessed with food, the third panelist is not limited to this topic: The third paper should in some way consider social or political activism by either an individual western woman or organization(s) of western women. Graduate students are cordially invited to submit proposals. As Irwin and North plan to submit their proposal as a "Coalition for Western Women's History Panel," preference will be given to panelists who are already members or willing to become members of the Coalition for Western Women's History (see www.WesternWomensHistory.org for more details).
