Call for Papers
The organizers seek high quality papers that address the issues of Sports, Youth and the African people, comparatively and/or within societies and countries. Themes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Sports and Culture
  • Sports and Youth
  • Sports and Education
  • Witchcraft in Sports
  • Sports and Politics
  • Sports in African Literature
  • Sports in Pre-colonial and Colonial Africa
  • Black Nationalism/Pan-Africanism and Sports
  • Sports and Gender
  • Sports and Religion
  • Sports and Economics
  • Sports and Development
  • Sports and Communication

Abstracts, including the paper title and theme, should be on one page and submitted electonically by January 10, 2004.

The symposium will commence on Friday Febrary 20th 2004 afternoon with a keynote presentation at the International Studies Forum by Prof. Rose Chepyator-Thomas, a Kenyan Commonwealth Games gold medalist and Olympian.
