The Pacific Coast Conference on British Studies (PCCBS) invites proposals for individual papers or complete panels for its thirty-first annual meeting to be held at the Center for British Studies, University of California, Berkeley, California, Friday 26th to Sunday 28th March 2004. We welcome papers or panels that deal with any area of British studies (broadly understood as the study of Britain, its component parts, and its empire) across the arts, humanities and social sciences. Especially welcome are broad thematic sessions or roundtables that explore interdisciplinary issues and new directions in British Studies. Proposal must be submitted by 1st December 2003 to the address below.
Proposals must include FOUR COPIES of (a) a statement of the overall purpose and goals of the panel (b) a 200 word abstract for each paper, and (d) a one page curriculum vitae for ALL participants (that includes a current mailing address, telephone number, or email address). Questions about the conference may be addressed to James Vernon via email, but proposals must be in hardcopy form.
