Proposals are now being accepted for the American Metafiction: Post 1945 Area. Listed below are some suggestions for possible presentations,but topics not included here are also welcome. Graduate students are encouraged to apply!
- Role of popular culture in metafiction
- Influence of metafiction on postmodern art, literature, and theory
- Influence of modernism on metafiction
- The politics of metafiction
- Historical connections and cultural critique in metafiction: Vietnam, media, etc
- Similarities or comparisons between visual art or film and metafiction
- Papers on the novels of Donald Barthelme, William Gass, John Barth, David Markson, Thomas Pynchon, Robert Coover, as well as recent metafictionalists
- Any theoretical approaches are welcome
- And much more...
The 2004 National Meeting of the PCA/ACA will be held in San Antonio, Texas, at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter Hotel. Further details regarding the conference can be found at the website below.
