We invite essays and/or proposals for an edited volume on connections between Philosemitism and Antisemitism in twentieth century American and British culture. This volume will focus on the use of the figure of the Jew and Jewishness to question, challenge, and redefine the terms philosemitism and antisemitism. Essays might consider historical, political, or cultural intersections. Possible topics include: Holocaust monuments and their reception, Jews' affiliations with Socialism and/or right wing politics, messiagnic myths about Jewish migration, and the role of antisemitism and philosemitism in postmodern narratives. We encourage engagement with Gender Studies, Diaspora Studies, Postcolonial Studies and/or various cultural theories, but essays should be free of gratuitous jargon.
Three page proposals and/or 20 page double spaced essays, including endnotes and bibliography, should be submitted to both editors:
