Texas Culture Area Call for Papers for, The 2004 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association, 25th Annual Conference, held in conjunction with the National Popular Culture/American Culture Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas, April 7-10, 2004, at the beautiful San Antonio Marriot Rivercenter Hotel, on the Riverwalk.
The Texas Culture Area solicits paper and presentation proposals from professors, graduate students, scholars, citizens, cowboys, and other aficionados of all things Texan. Also welcome are proposals for discussions and panels organized around common Texas-centric themes or motifs. Further information regarding transportation, lodging, registration, the conference, and the history of the organizations and the conference can be located at the conference web site.

Comanche Culture in Texas
Texas-based Television Shows
The Texas State Fair
High School Football in Texas
Texas Authors and Literature
Art and Artists from Texas
The Cowboy Boot as Cultural Icon
Agriculture and Ranching in Texas
Music and Musicians from Texas
The Cowboy Hat as Cultural Icon
Mexican-American Culture in Texas
African-American Culture in Texas
And, of course, other Texas-centric topics are welcome.
Application Process: Submssions are due 15 November 2003. Please send an abstract of 200 words to Wallis Sanborn at the email address or address of locale provided below. With your abstract, please include your email address, address of locale, your university or group affiliation (if applicable), and a title for your presentation.
