Germans were not the first to settle the American continent but their influence has nevertheless been felt since the earliest years of their arrival. This volume seeks to explore the contributions made by ethnic Germans in the making of the United States. Subjects to consider include reasons for and the impact of each wave of immigration, settlement patterns, the experiences of German auxiliary troops in the American Revolution, religious groups, responses to pending world-wide military actions of the 20th century, and the lasting influences of German culture, music, food, literature, and the like on the United States. Submission deadline for call for papers is 14 February 2004.
