Fieldtrips to the National Archives and the Library of Congress are outside the reach of many teachers. In this workshop, Karen Needles brings the National Archives and the Library of Congress to you. Locating those treasures found among the billions of documents, Karen provides facsimiles of these documents, just as if you were visiting the Archives or LOC. In an investigative setting, participants will analyze and evaluate the historical event, using primary sources related to the topic. Participants will have the opportunity to examine documents, investigate history, ask questions, and learn how to use these resources so that they can help students bring history to life in the classroom. Participants are also given tips for creating reproduction documents that look just like the real thing.
