The Changing Northern Environment is the theme for this year's annual conference organized by Inter-Universities North, which will be held November 5-6, 2003 in Thompson, Manitoba, in the midst of the northern boreal forest. Thomas Berger, internationally renowned lawyer and author in the areas of Aboriginal rights and environmental protection, is the keynote speaker, and will address his personal experiences on "The Changing North." Other sessions and presentations at the conference will encompass a variety of perspectives, including the relationship of indigenous knowledge and western approaches to environmental issues and climate change. Presenters will include university-based researchers as well as community-based Elders. The conference is open to the public and there is no registration fee; however space is limited so pre-registration is highly recommended. For further information, including a conference brochure and registration information please contact Kelly Hause via email.
