Conference announcement: Customary Law (Adat Law) between State and Society: Caucasus / Central Asia in Comparison to Other Regions of the Muslim World

Organised by Michael Kemper (Bochum) and Maurus Reinkowski (Bamberg); financed by Volkswagen Foundation.

The conference investigates into forms of customary law (adat law) in the regions of the former Soviet Union with a strong Muslim population. Researchers from Russia and other states in Central Asia who are working on adat law are meeting with German-speaking scholars who have worked on the same issues or on similar phenomena in other regions of the Muslim world.
