Marita Sturken, the new Editor of the American Quarterly, would like to announce a conference, Los Angeles and the Future of Urban Cultures, to be held November 14th and 15th at the Huntington Library. The conference will feature discussions of transnationalism, urban space, citizenship, race, and belonging by presenters and commentators such as Amy Kaplan, Juan Flores, Setha Low, George Sanchez, Dana Cuff, Catherine Jurca, Lisa McGirr, and Toby Miller, among others. George Lipsitz will give the keynote, "Locked Here on this Earth: Learning from Los Angeles." The conference fee will be $20 ($10 with student ID). The keynote lecture will be open to the public.
