Call for Papers: Culture of Fandom Area
2004 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association
25th Annual Conference, held in conjunction with the National Popular
Culture/American Culture Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas
April 7-10, 2004
The 2004 SW/TX PCA/ACA Conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas, at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter Hotel, on the Riverwalk. Further details regarding the conference (listing of all areas, hotel, registration, tours, etc.) can be found at the website below.
This area will explore the shared communities created by fans from a wide variety of cultural activities. Our exploration will range from objective observations of fandom to subjective experiences of fans to theoretical approaches to the culture of fandom as an area of academic study.
Proposals and abstracts are now being accepted for the Culture of Fandom Area. Listed below are some suggestions for possible presentations, but topics not included here are more than welcome. Proposals should cover either a broad area of fandom i.e., sports or a specific sub-group i.e., NASCAR
The deadline for proposals is November 15, 2003.
