The Organization for the History of Canada invites submissions for a conference entitled "Canadian-American Relations: Do Borders Matter?" to take place in Ottawa, 13-16 May 2004. The conference will include sessions on the following 5 broad themes: (1) Bittersweet Legacy of our Shared & Separate Histories: (2) National Identities - Convergence and/or Divergence: (3) Pax Americana - Continental Defence & Security in a Globalizing World: (4) Economic Partners/Economic Competitors; (5) What does the Future hold?
We seek proposals dealing with political, economic, cultural, social, military, and diplomatic issues from historical and contemporary points of view. Proposals for individual papers, complete panels, and session chairs should be submitted by 31 October 2003. Proposals from established academics, new faculty, graduate students, and other interested analysts and commentators are welcome.
