The Society for Historians of the Early American Republic (SHEAR) invites proposals for papers or full sessions for its annual conference on July 22-25, 2004, at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. SHEAR welcomes proposals addressing any aspect of American history and culture in the period of the early republic (c.1787-1850), and especially those pertaining to the conference locale. Proposals should include a prospectus and vita and should be submitted by November 14, 2003, to the contact below. Scholars who would like to serve as chairs or commentators may also contact the program chair. Unless affiliated with disciplines other than history, all program participants are required to be members of SHEAR.
