This one-day conference marks the fiftieth anniversary of the coronation of Elizabeth II by considering coronations past and future.
Speakers will include Janet Nelson on Carolingian coronation rituals, Sir Roy Strong on English coronations, Richard Wortman on Russian coronations, Philip Mansel on Ottoman/Islamic coronations, Dougal Shaw on Scottish coronations, Graham Norton on the Habsburg coronation of 1916 and Jeffrey Richards on the coronation of Elizabeth II. The final session will be a panel discussion chaired by Robert Lacey on the possible form of future British coronations.
The conference will take place in the Senate House of the University of London.
