Call for Papers for the Politics Area of the 2004 Annual Conference of the Southwest Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association in San Antonio, TX, April 7-10, 2004.
You are invited to participate in the annual meeting of the Southwest Popular Culture Association as a paper presenter or panel chair/organizer in the area of Politics and Popular Culture. The Southwest/Texas Regional Popular Culture Association is an interdisciplinary academic organization affiliated with the national American Culture Association. The 2004 annual conferences of both organizations will be held jointly in San Antonio, TX, April 7-10, 2004. Proposed papers or panels must be related to the general topic of politics and popular culture. Panels at past conferences included "Popular Images of the Presidency in Film," "Political Culture of the Southwest, " Environmental Politics in the Southwest," and "Teaching Politics: Popular Culture in the Classroom." Other appropriate topics include: the portrayal of American politics in popular literature or film, the concept of political culture, policy issues confronting the Southwest such as water resources and immigration policy, the popular response to terrorism in the U.S., and trends in the political process or development of political institutions in the Southwest.
