Public and Private Representations of War: The Ironic Gap in Between (10/20/03; PCA/ACA & SWTPCA, 4/7/04-4/10/04)

We are seeking papers for a multidisciplinary panel titled (tentatively) "Public and Private Representations of War: The Ironic Gap in Between." The focus is on the ongoing war(s) in Afghanistan and Iraq, though papers with a broader, contextual focus are welcome. We especially need someone to cover visual representations: graphics, posters, media ads, etc., and someone who would discuss the role of film in the context of our topic.

The panel is being proposed for the Popular Culture Association, American Culture Associations, and Southwest / Texas Popular Culture Association co-conference, April 7 - 10, 2004, in San Antonio, Texas at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter.

Deadline for panel proposals is November 14, 2003, but papers submitted for consideration for inclusion in the panel must reach us by October 15, 2003. Papers and queries to Dr. Tracy E. Bilsing, via email.
