Within the Council of Europe and European Commission Partnership on Youth Research, a research seminar under the title "What about Youth Political Participation?" will take place in Strasbourg from 24 to 26 November 2003. The main aim of this research seminar is to re-emphasise questions of youth political participation - in Europe and beyond, as this issue appears to have been significantly undervalued in youth research of recent years. A broad range of issues related to youth political participation will be examined and discussed during this seminar: Youth Policy and Implementation in Europe; Theoretical Aspects - Youth, Political, Participation, and Related Concepts; Political Culture – The Social Context of Youth Participation; Institutional Determinants of Youth Political Participation; Approaches to Developing Youth Political Participation. A detailed presentation of this research seminar and the relevant call for papers can be requested with the convenor of the seminar, Joerg Forbrig, via email. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 29 August 2003.
