World Archaeology - Call for Papers
Vol. 37 No. 1 Archaeology of North America.
Submission by May 2004 for publication in March 2005. A region so large and comparatively well researched defies thematic treatment. It requires an ecumenical approach that samples the broad range of evidence and analytical and interpretive approaches to its study. We seek papers on the following specific subjects:
- the status of claims for pre-Clovis occupations
- new developments in the study of agricultural origins in any one North American area
- symbolic approaches to the study of North American prehistory
- selectionist or behavioralist theory applied to North American evidence
- the difference between ethnographic and archaeological time scales, and how to understand the archaeological record in view of the difference
- synthesis of any one major theoretical approach(e.g., selectionism, behavioralism) common in North America
Other major research results or topical syntheses also may be considered. Contact the issue editor with proposals.
