Texts for the Teachable Moment
inventio: an online, peer-reviewed journal of creative thinking about learning and teaching
Teachers of all kinds, whether university or college faculty, K-12 educators, corporate trainers or volunteer instructors, amass a repertoire of texts that brings learning to life. Essays, fiction, movies, videos, TV shows, poems, web sites, hypertexts, paintings, sculptures, plays, performances, adverts, online art and multimedia productions all can drive students to rethink their relationship to a discipline, a process of learning or a professional choice.
In a special feature for its Fall 2003 issue, inventio invites teachers to submit short articles (800 - 2500 words) about the text (in the widest sense) that invariably generates the teachable moment. Be as witty, as irreverent, as theoretical or as heartfelt as you like. But above all, be generous and share the power of your text with teachers and learners alike.
Deadline: 30 September, 2003
Formats: As your text requires, although inventio is always delighted to receive hypertexts, multimedia and multi-genre works
