The International Conferences on the Dialogical Self serve as a meeting place for theoreticians, researchers, psychotherapists and trainers interested in the idea of the self as a 'society of mind' - a pluralistic and multivoiced system. Central topics are self and identity, the construction and reconstruction of meaning, the relationship between culture and self, dialogical processes in relation to globalization, and the reconstruction of self-narratives in psychotherapy. The First Conference on the Dialogical Self took place in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) in 2000. The Second Conference was scheduled in Ghent (Belgium) in 2002. The idea of the Third Conference is to organize interchange and discussion of problems related to the dialogical self across the boundaries of specific (sub)disciplines. As such the Third International Conference on the Dialogical Self is open to psychologists and representatives of other social sciences and arts. The language of all presentations (keynotes, symposia, paper and poster presentations) is English. The Announcement - call for proposals – will be distributed in October 2003.
