"Media and the New Cold War": Papers are sought for a panel which analyzes the function of mainstream and alternative moving-image culture in determining public understandings of and actions regarding recent and ongoing Bush Administration practices, including the international "war on terrorism," USA Patriot Acts I & II, anti-feminist legislation, newly proposed welfare, health care, and social security reforms, Supreme Court stacking, environmental rollback, tax cuts, and monitary policy operations. Papers might focus on TV and online media activism, TV "militainment," pro-war advertizing, contemporary war films, media war profiteering, and the U.S. vs. international media problematic.
