ANNOUNCING H-Southern-Industry: H-Net Network on the History and Culture
of Industrialization in the American South
Sponsored by H-Net, Humanities & Social Sciences On-line and the Southern
Industrialization Project.
ABOUT H-Southern-Industry
The purpose of H-Southern-Industry is to transfer an existing, successful
academic discussion list of the Southern Industrialization Project (SIP)
from a listserv operating out of Georgia Tech. SIP List began in January
1997 and currently has approximately 130 members from around the world who
are interested in exchanging ideas and data about Southern
industrialization. The list also serves to distribute announcements about
SIP events as well as book reviews solicited by SIP. It also frequently
distributes pertinent posts found on other lists. This list attracts
members from, but also fills a niche outside the general interests of,
those who subscribe to H-South, H-SAWH, H-Labor, H-Business, and other
lists. It has two specific parameters that define its raison d'etre: the
terms "Southern" and "Industrialization" both of which are defined
broadly. We are only interested in discussions that meet at the
intersection of those two terms.
The H-Southern-Industry list is co-edited by
- Steven A. Reich, James Madison University
- Michael Gagnon
- Stephen W. Taylor
- Macon State College.
Like all H-Net lists, H-Southern-Industry is moderated to edit out
material that,
in the editors' opinion, is not germane to the list, involves technical
matters (such as subscription management requests), is inflammatory, or
violates evolving, yet common, standards of Internet etiquette. H-Net's
procedure for resolving disputes over list editorial practices is
