The Grand Rapids Historical Society seeking to sponsor lecturer and writer on the topic of Pre-Civil War African American History in Michigan.
The GRHS sponsors a yearly lecture series at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan and wishes to sponsor a presentation for February 2004 on pre-Civil War African American History in Michigan with an emphasis on West Michigan. A stipend will be awarded and some research assistance provided. Presenter’s work will also be published with a follow up article in the Grand River Valley Review Magazine. There is also the possibility of a multiple year commitment for future February programs in a series format if appropriate.
Please feel free to forward to researchers, historians, and graduate students with a specialty and/or interest in Michigan African American History.
