Effective July 1, Agricultural History, the official publication of the Agricultural History Society and the journal of record in its field, will be moving its editorial offices to North Dakota State University in Fargo. Manuscripts, books for review, and completed book reviews should be sent to the incoming editor at the contact below.
For the past nine years the journal has been edited at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. A year ago, Editor R. Douglas Hurt announced his intention to resign from the post in order to devote more time to research and to the Graduate Program in the Agricultural and Rural Studies which he directs at Iowa State.
A committee chaired by Richard Kirkendall, Professor emeritus, University of Washington, conducted a national search for new host institution and editor before recommending the NDSU proposal to the Society's Board of Directors. Speaking on behalf of the Board, Society President Gavin Wright expressed gratitude to Editor Hurt and Iowa State University for the years of excellent service in making Agricultural History internationally recognized. He also noted that the strong commitment made by North Dakota State University would insure that this excellence will continue.
The new editor, Claire Strom, has assembled a team of five associate editors—David Danbom, Mark Harvey, Thomas Isern, Jim Norris, and Larry Peterson—and is actively soliciting manuscripts for future issues of Agricultural History.
The Society's Business Office and the Executive Secretary-Treasurer will continue to be hosted by the Department of History at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
