Contributions are sought for the Encyclopedia of African Atlantic Relations, to be published in two volumes by ABC-CLIO in late 2004, edited by Angela M. Leonard and Alan Rice. This particular work (part of a dynamic multi-volume series on Transatlantic Relations) will cover the cultural, political, institutional, social, religious, artistic, multinational, multilingual, and multiethnic aspects of people of *African descent and their contributions to, impact on and unique influence in the development of countries, societies and continents which boarder the Atlantic Ocean. The Encyclopedia of African Atlantic Relations is arranged alphabetically and includes in the first volume a timeline as well as three lengthy historical essays on major periods. A board of prominent advisors, and an interdisciplinary collage of academics, specialists, and independent scholars are currently involved in this project, and the editors are actively seeking more. The editors anticipate that this will be the seminal (hence, most thorough) reference source that situates peoples of African descent within a global perspective, extending from ancient kingdoms to the present. This work will also contain original documents, illustrations (maps, charts, photographs) throughout, and a bibliography. Prospective contributors are sought in all fields (e.g. music, sports, education, law, politics, history, literatures, linguistics, languages, the arts, business, philosophy, theology, classics, geography, psychology, mathematics, sciences, media, anthropology, sociology, and medicine).
