A New York publisher seeks a scholar to write an encyclopedia of American folklore aimed at high school and college students, professors and teachers, folklorists, librarians, and general readers.
The book will contain 300,000 to 350,000 words, divided into 500 to 700 alphabetically organized entries, and 70 to 100 illustrations.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD and publications in a relevant field, excellent writing skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
The author will receive an advance and royalty contract and is expected to complete the work in approximately two years.
The work also could be done by a small team of writers or as an edited, multicontributor volume.
Residence in the United States, Canada, or the U.K. is preferred.
