The Newberry Library Seminar in Early American History and Culture, co-sponsored with the University of Chicago, DePaul University, Northern Illinois University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Northwestern University
Call For Papers for the 2003-04 academic year
Deadline for submission: June 1, 2003
This seminar meets on the last Thursday of each month, from September through May, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Newberry Library.
The seminar is a venue for "works in progress." We distribute papers in advance to those who plan to attend, allowing fulltime for discussion during seminar meetings. In selecting presenters, we give priority to scholars and advanced graduate students who are at a stage in their work when they can profit best from discussion.
To apply, please send a one-page proposal, a brief c.v., and a statement on the relationship of the proposed paper to your other work. Send materials to the address below.
The coordinators of the seminar are Eric Slauter (University of Chicago) and Alfred Young (Newberry Library). We would like to have papers lined up by June 1, 2003, but will consider proposals received after that date.
The Newberry Library is unable to provide funds for travel or lodging, but can assist in locating lodging.
To be placed on the mailing list for notices of presentations, contact Rebekah Holmes at the Scholl Center, Newberry Library, 60 W. Walton St., Chicago, IL, 60610, 312-255-3524, or email scholl@newberry.org. Please include your email address if you have one and are willing to receive notices by email.
