We look forward to welcoming you to London, which is not only one of the world's great cities but a place rich in resources for historians, including medical historians. For medical historians, especially, the institutions and enterprises that have grown from the interests of Sir Henry Wellcome are of world significance, and this conference is meant to commemorate the 150th anniversary of his birth, with special attention to themes of concern to him, such as the collecting of books and objects, philanthropy, and Anglo-American tensions and cooperation.
