My researches concern three subjects: the first of them is about the participation of the American Indians in the two World Wars. More precisely it deals with the persistance of their culture in the warfield, the use of this culture (in fights, in sending coded messages). I also intend to study the stereotyping perception of the White culture towards the American Indians: those stereotypes have been used in war propaganda for example (newspapers...).
The second subject is about the relation of the state of Connecticut and the Pequots'casino (financial agreement...). Has this financial relation evolved since the first agreement between the casino and the federal state?
The third subject deals with the notions of paternalism and Indianness in Canada, especially in the 60's when some Natives' association tried to define their particularity as an ethnic group: the purpose being to curb the government's assimilationist policy. I hope to find some help thanks to you!
