The Centre for Chinese Language and Culture at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Division of Chinese Language and Culture, National Institute of Education, will co-host an international seminar from 23-25 June 2004 in conjunction with the Centre’s Tenth Anniversary Celebration. The theme of the conference will be National Boundary and Cultural Configurations and will include round-table forums on cross-cultural sub-themes.
The Conference Organising Committee invites the participation of scholars and welcomes proposals including, but not limited, to the following areas: Comparative Studies of Chinese Language; Chinese Dialects: Social and Cultural Function; South-East Asian Chinese: Identity, Social Changes and Language Education; Literature in Chinese, Comparative Literature and National Boundary; and Cultural Studies in the Context of Globalization and Modernity. One or more volumes of selected, refereed and edited conference papers will be published after the conference. The conference language is Chinese but papers in English will also be accepted.
Please send a 250-word abstract together with a current curriculum vita to the address below. Abstracts may also be submitted by email. To be considered, proposals must be received no later than 31 July 2003. The registration fee will be waived for selected abstracts.
